Pit 109: Level 1
Completed on September 7, 2020 by Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. After reviewing the brick recovery data, we decided to move out of the hot zone and next to a lone pit (Pit 48) where we found some significant pieces of hardened/cooked brick. This condition of brick may indicate a fireplace. Getting a second sample could help us determine if this area was another corner of the Granby house or maybe another structure. Maybe part of the pre-Granby Thomas Brown homesite. Level 1 was very similar to Pit 48 with lots of modern day material, especially brick and asphalt. The amount of Granby artifacts was lower in comparison to other pits that we are confident are where the Granby house stood.
Pit 109: Level 1 produced: two pieces of pottery, three pieces of glass, one nail, and one Native America cutting tool.
