Pit 111: Level 3

Completed November 27, 2020 by Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. Level three was pretty low in artifacts. Only one pottery (also hand-painted) was found and just a few pieces of glass and nails. Extensive probing under the tree stump did not turn up any artifacts, so we debunked the theory of artifacts always being found under trees. With artifact averages dropping for the first time in the Granby dig (in pits 106 through 110) we decided it might be time to reconsider another row of pits in the hot-zone outside of the fence. I submitted a "call before you dig" request to see if that row area would be clear of the gas, sewer, and water lines. As luck would have it, we had just enough room to complete another row, which should give us another 25 pits in the hot-zone.

Pit 111: Level 3 produced: One piece of pottery, five glass, three nails, one iron, and one charcoal.
