Pit 127: Level 3

Completed on May 31, 2021, by Art Googler, Daniel Piasecki, Andrea, Clover, Alma and David Robichaud, Odess and David Brinkman. We welcomed new digger Daniel Piasecki (a Physics student who met David through Clover Robichaud. We would not be disappointed in level three. The kitchen pottery really picked up, and we found several pipe pieces, including a 1720-1750 pipe stem. We also had excellent numbers of kitchen pottery and stoneware. This is in the area where we believe the Granby kitchen stood, so it was good to see continued confirmation of that. At the bottom of the pit, we found a post hole and the feature of the 1960's gas line. We also had a lot of Native American pottery from this level, and this, with the dated pipe stem, also confirms that under the Granby site was also the site of Indian trader Thomas Brown. Pit 127 proved to be very good.

Pit 127: Level 3 produced: 29 kitchen pottery, 11 stoneware, 9 kitchen glass, 8 window glass, 13 nails, 4 pipe, 28 Native American, 25 charcoal, 8 iron, and 1 other activity.

In total Pit 127 (all levels) produced: 50 kitchen pottery, 17 stoneware, 17 kitchen glass, 21 window glass, 23 nails, 5 pipe, 77 activity, and 47 Native American.

Out of all the pits in the Granby dig, this pit ranked: 26
