Pit 144: Level 3

Completed on June 11, 2022 by Kim Masters, Tehye, Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. Kim Masters made it for the last level and provided some much needed dig support. DC would find the longest pipe stem of the dig. This was from a 1720-1750 pipe and measured 2.5" long. The stem was also very think which is probably why it survived over 100 years of plowing. The other cool finds of the level were a possible piece of a barrel band or possibly a pot. And, also, the top of a large iron stake. Level three gave us a relatively high count of stoneware which is common in this area where we think the kitchen was located. The total number of artifacts for all levels, however, was a dramatic drop from the pit just to the north. This may indicate that we have come to the south end of the kitchen./h3>
