Pit 148: Level 3

Completed on November 12, 2022, by Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. As we have seen in this disturbed area, we begin to find multiple archaeological features in level 3. We now understand that these are just mixed-up parts of the charcoal stained soil of Granby and soil that was above and below Granby. As in the adjacent pits, level 3 led to a level 4 because of this disturbance. It is difficult to stop when we have dark soil spots because we know there are Granby artifacts in these features. Unfortunately, we could not keep going. I know there were many more Granby items going deeper but the effort is too much. Although we still found some good artifacts, this may be the last pit we do in this area.
