Pit 47: Level 2

Completed on September 2, 2013 by Odess and David Brinkman, Debbie Bloom, Dean Hunt, DC Locke. We got carried away and went a little deeper than we normally do for level 2 so the outstanding artifact numbers are a little misleading. 50 pieces of pottery ties a record for the most in a single level. Level 2 produced a high number of Native America items including a large stone (very unique to this dig) which may have been worked into a tool. We also found a good number of iron pieces, one of which, had an interesting decorative appearance. Adding to the discovery on pit 46, a green bottle piece found in level 2 looks like the curved section of the bottle's shoulder.

Pit 47: Level 2 produced: 50 pieces of pottery, 26 pieces of glass, 9 nails, 7 iron pieces, a pipe bowl piece, 19 pieces of charcoal, and 6 possible Native American pieces (5 pottery and a large stone that may have been a tool).
