Pit 64: Level 1
Completed on April 27, 2014 by Jocelyn, Tehye, and DC Locke, Debbie Bloom, Odess, and David Brinkman. We started off with lunch made by Odess and Jocelyn. Tehye would finally get her hands dirty in a dig. After almost completing another row (with pit 63) on the inside of the fence, the lowering results (as we move toward the house), have now made us focus on the row outside of the fence on Riverland Drive. The next 6 pits in this area should continue to increase our artifact count average through pit 70. After that, any pit selection will probably (from what we have seen in other areas), produce a lowering average. For today, we had high expectations since the adjacent pits (60 and 62) were the #1 and #4 best pits of the dig. We did better than average in level 1 and we had some colorful pottery finds (a good sign).
Pit 64: Level 1 produced: 11 pieces of pottery, 15 pieces of glass, 4 nails, and a large unknown iron piece.
