Pit 69: Level 1

Completed September 27 by Odess and David Brinkman. We moved back into the hot zone today on the other side of the fence. This is the area between the Judas and Magnolia trees. Sometimes tree roots can push artifacts up and down so thought this might be a deep dig and decided to do one level today and two levels tomorrow. The roots, in fact, were pretty bad and it looks like they go well into level two. Odess found a nice piece of shell edge with a sponge-like print on it. Overall, the artifacts counts for level one looked very similar to other pits in the area.

Pit 69: Level 1 produced: 10 pieces of pottery, 11 pieces of glass, 1 nail, and a couple of sandstone pieces.
