Pit 110: Level 2

Completed on November 21, 2020 by Art Coogler, Gary and Sue Kelly, Josephine Bachman, Alicia Ballagh, DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. We actually started level one the day before and Art Coogler made the top find of level two with a 40 cal Rev War musket ball. Newcomers Sue and Gary Kelly, and Josephine Bachman,did a great job on their first try. Proof of this was in the number of recovered artifacts that were smaller than our sifting screen (1/4 inch). We ended up with a nice diversity of artifact types including two pipe bowl pieces, kitchen pottery/glass, stoneware, window glass, nails, slate, charcoal, and three small pieces of Native American pottery. We also found multiple pieces of the beautiful glazed brick that was first found in the adjacent pit (see level three results of Pit 107.) After completing level two, Odess served a good lunch for the diggers.

Pit 110: Level 2 produced: 18 pieces of pottery/glazed-brick, 35 pieces of glass, two nails, three Native American pottery pieces, two pipe bowl pieces, and a .40 cal musket ball.
