Pit 113: Level 1

Completed December 19, 2020 by Stephanie Davis, Sean Fouste, Adriana Fouste, Teresa Mitchell, Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. Pit 113 is the second pit in the new rox of "hot zone" pits. We are skipping a meter between digging pits because getting too close to a freshly dug pit may cause a collapse of the new pit's wall. After completing this skipping motion, we will return in a year (when the ground of the dug pits has compacted) and dig the skipped pit positions. On this day, we had the return of Sean Fouste and Adriana Fouste. They are the son and wife of Jeff Fouste, who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year. Also joining us for a little bit of level one was Stephanie Davis whose grandparents own the house across the street. Level one was very similar in artifacts to level one of the previous pit and others in the hot zone.

Pit 113: Level 1 produced: Three pieces of pottery, five glass, one nails, one iron, three Native American pottery, one slate, and one charcoal.
