Pit 124: Level 1

Completed on May 8, 2021, by Alexander and Kyle Markey, Kim Masters, Odess and David Brinkman. Granby dig neighbor, Kyle Markey, had offered his yard as another dig location. After looking at the 1939 aerial photo of the area, we noticed a "cross" feature in what would be Kyle's front yard. With Kyle doing most of the digging and his son Alexander helping, we first tried a couple of test pits and quickly centered in on an area a little closer to the front of the house. Not surprisingly, we found many modern brick, concrete, and asphalt pieces near the surface. But what led us to this particular area was a metal detector iron hit of a square nail.
