Pit 39: Level 3

Completed May 18, 2013 by Meg and Elizabeth Krawczyk, Dean Hunt, Jocy and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. We were joined in level 3 with 8th grader Meg Krawzwek and her mother Elizabeth. Meg continued our 8th grade student good luck charm as we had great pottery finds (35 pieces) including a new type we have never seen before. We also found a nice decorated pipe bowl piece, Native American pieces, and a brass tack. We also believe that the large iron piece, found in this level, may be part of a Colonial iron pot which we found a larger piece of (including a leg) in pit 25. All together, pit 39 was a better than average pit and proved to us that there is still a lot more to be found in this dig. In total, the pit produced 56 pieces of pottery, 43 pieces of glass, 16 nails, 2 pipe pieces, and a brass tack.

Pit 39: Level 3 produced: 35 pieces of pottery (some Native American), 26 pieces of glass, a brass tack, 15 nails, and a pieces of an iron pot.
