Pit 42: Level 3

Completed on August 31, 2013 by David Brinkman. Finally returning to Pit 42 after almost 2 months... Since the last part of level 2 was a sterile sandy soil, I decided to complete a soil probe instead of sifting another level. The results were negative and I closed and filled the pit. The initial work on the Granby model shows that pit 42 lies in one of the East/West roads that ran through Granby. This may be the reason for the sterile soil in this and a few other pits that also fall on where this road once existed. Below is a snapshot from the Google Earth model of Granby.
