Pit 71: Level 2
Completed on October 26, 2014 by Fred Morrison, Lynn Jordan Stidom, DC Locke, Dean Hunt, Teresa Mitchell, Steven Rougeau, and David and Odess Brinkman. We had a good increase in nails and the number of glass pieces in level 1 but just modest numbers of pottery. We also found a long L-head square nail. Maybe the first of the dig. These 18th century nails were used in finishing work like that done around windows, doors, or the mantel.
Pit 71: Level 2 produced: 7 pieces of pottery, 39 pieces of glass, and 12 nails (including a L-head nail).
Below: 1 and 2 are examples of L-head nails
