Pit 117: Level 3
Completed February 27, 2021 by Stephany North, Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. Stephany made some nice finds in level 3. A round brass ring shaped item was found which might be a button chank or an anglet. A small door hinge was also found. The top item was probably a large Native American pottery with an obvious stamped imprint. In all, the artifacts continue to show signs that this location was probably a Granby stoage building. It also shows a continued increased in Native American artifacts (as we move to the west) which could be from the previous Thomas Brown period or even older. After the dig, we checked out the nearby marker for Ellisor Hill which states that this was, in 1899, considered a "suburb of the town of Granby". It's location was infact just outside of where Granby was located but Granby was long-gone by 1899.
Pit 117: Level 3 produced: 16 pottery pieces, 17 glass, one pipe bowl, six nails, 12 Native American, 130 charcoal, and four iron (including a door hinge).
