Sarah Friday's 1810 Granby Drawing
Seibles Store
The Seibels store was also the family house. John Jacob Seibels was born in Germany in 1752 and died in Granby in 1816. He married Sarah Sally Temple (1765-1838) in Charleston in 1785. Their son John Temple Seibels (1791-1853) was surveyor-general of South Carolina. John Temple Seibels appears to have purchased the Samuel Johnston house (our Granby dig site) sometime between 1815 and 1820.
In 1806, a Jacob Seibels served as an election manager in Granby. In 1826, Henry Seibels served as an election manager in Sandy Run, while John Hane was doing it for Granby. The Seibels had their own family cemetery in Granby that included several generations.
